It was amazing how when you grow up everything you thought was huge became small. How you were able to sit in a spot and fit perfectly then you got bigger and you are struggling not to fall off cause you're too big.
Currently everyone's favourite keyblader was having that problem.
Sora adjusted himself again, trying hard not to fall off the paopu fruit tree. Granted he hadn't gotten much bigger in the 5 years since his return but he did get big enough that he was having a hard time. He heard a laugh as he frowned and tried to get in a comfier position.
"Don't laugh!!!"
"Sorry couldn't help it." His silver haired (and a good foot taller then him.) companion laughed again.
"How do you do it?!" Sora huffed as he decided just to straddle the damn tree. Riku shrugged as he maintained his balance on the tree as Sora once again made it sway.
"Years of practice I guess. It's all about balance Sora. And obviously... You don't have any." Riku laughed again. Sora pouted. How dare Riku make fun of his obvious lack of grace!
"Riku stop picking on him." Kairi pushed the oldest off the tree and took his spot before he could protest.
"Thank you!"
"Aw Sora needs a slap in the face every once and a while. If he didn't he'd get a bigger head then he already has!!" Riku smirked from his spot on the ground. That comment got him two 'death' glares. He got up and jumped up onto the tree, behind Kairi and near the location of the fruit. His jump shook the tree to a point where the two almost fell off which forced another laugh out of the silver haired 22-year-old.
"Riku you're an ass!!" Sora hugged onto the tree as Riku moved to get one of the fruits.
"Yeah but you love this ass." He smirked again as he pulled one of the yellow stars from the tree then hopped back onto the ground. "C'mon off the tree." He grabbed it and gave it a good shake causing Sora to fall off and Kairi to meep. She got off and helped Sora up.
"Do you really think this will work?" She asked as she helped brush off Sora's clothes.
"I don't see why it wouldn't. After all the legend says if you share it with someone your destinies become intertwined. Besides, Sora and I are leaving today so we have to do it today or we might never have a chance." Riku said as he walked over to them.
He was right though. He and Sora had been called by the King again and from the sound of it, they might not make it back this time. It made the three worry and in attempts to quwell the worry, Riku suggested they all share a paopu.
Standing in a triangle shape the three leaned in as Riku lifted the fruit and bit off the point of the star closest to them. They chewed silently and went in for another bite and continued this way till their lips met.
For Riku it's something he's dreamed about for a long while. His lips gracing Sora's for a small kiss, but it only lasted for so long before he pulled away and let Sora and Kairi have their moment.He turned his back to them not wanting to see the display of affection and walked to the edge of the tiny island.
"I hope... that we can come back." He whispered as soft strands of silver picked up in the wind.
"We will." He looked over his shoulder as a hand touched it. Sora stood with a slight smile then he frowned. "Why did you pull away?"
"I thought you two would need a moment." Riku looked back to the ocean. He felt another hand on his other shoulder but didn't turn to see it since he knew it was Kairi's.
"Riku... We all shared that paopu fruit. That kiss was meant for all three of us, not just Sora and I." She placed her forehead against the back of his shoulder. "Sora and I have been talking...and...well.."
"We want it so it isn't 'Sora and Kairi'. We want it 'Sora, Riku, and Kairi.' So I guess... We're asking you out." Sora smirked as he rested his chin on Riku's shoulder. A soft smile made it's self known on Riku's lips.
"And I guess my answer would be as long as I get to be on top."
"You're an ass!!" Sora laughed.
This moment as perfect... Just the three of them and the sound of the waves. It ended all too soon when it reached the time where Riku and Sora had to depart. They gave Kairi a kiss before stepping in the point to transport them to the gummi ship.
Sora looked out the window and down at their little world as Riku started the ship up.
"We'll see it again... Right..?"
"Of course." Riku gave him a soft smile. Sora smiled back then continued to look out the window.
Their first stop wasn't Disney Castle but Raident Garden. Sora almost felt a bit odd as they landed. He looked around at the finished town then hurried to catch up to Riku.
"The King said there was someone for us to meet here. I wonder if it's Cloud. He should be back by now."
"I think if Mickey wanted us to just come to see Cloud it wouldn't be as urgent as it is." Riku said as he stopped at a shop to stock up on items. Sora pouted seriously hoping that was it then looked around for a familiar face.
Then he caught a glimpse of someone that he could have sworn he had never seen before, but oddly knew. He was about to go after the man but he stopped when he heard Riku turning and going the other way. With a bit of a frown Sora followed after the silver haired one and crossed his arms in thought.
"What is it?"
"I saw this guy... I could have sworn I knew him but I've never seen him before..."
"That's rather odd. Maybe you've seen him here before and just didn't remember."
"Maybe..." Sora frowned more as the made their way through the Bailey and into Ansem the Wise's computer lab.
"What took you?" The voice of a old friend caused Sora to forget everything that had just transpired.
"Leon!!" He practically tackled the man that he was about an inch taller then.
"Alright, alright! So you missed me!!" Leon let a small chuckle escape his lips and gave Sora a small hug back then pulled away. He nodded at Riku and went back to the computer.
"How's Tron?! Can I go see him?! I want Riku to meet him!!" Sora bounced like a little kid next to the older man.
"Hello Sora." The computer chimed in happily.
"Tron!! I missed you!!" Sora hugged the consul. The computer gave a soft laugh.
"I missed you too. And it's nice to meet you Riku." Riku blink and then blush slightly at his nervousness.
"Nice to meet you too Tron." He said trying to figure out where exactly he should be saying that to. He watched Sora converse with the computer then slipped into the Heartless making factory. He looked around searching for a disc slot.
"What exactly are you searching for?" Riku jumped and turned around. Leon stood with his arms crossed and a sharp glare.
"Where would you put a CD?" Riku asked as he tried to ignore the glare. "Stop that."
"Stop what?"
"Glaring."
"I don't trust people with silver hair."
"Don't you think that's a bit of stereotyping?" Riku all of a sudden felt really uncomfortable with the other man.
"Not really considering you were once evil."
"I was being controlled dumbass, know the facts before--"
"The fact you let yourself be controlled is all I need to not trust you. Get back into the lab."
"And if I refuse?" Riku crossed his arms. He had to find that disc slot.
"Then I'll beat you and drag your knock out body into it. Besides... The disc slot is in the lab, dumbass." Leon turned and made his way back up there. Riku glared at the receding figure for a minute then looked around. He sighed with defeat and went back to the lab in time to see Sora loose at a game of pong and Tron's sensors to go haywire.
"There is a mass of Heartless appearing in the Great Maw." The computer reported. Sora looked up and gave Riku a nod and ran out with the other following.
It was a hectic battle. Sora was completely worn out as he finished the last of the Heartless in his area. He tensed at the feeling of being watched and looked in the direction he sensed it from.
That man!!
That...man...
Brown hair, piercing blue eyes and that hair style... It was so....
"XEMNAS!!!" Sora yelled and readied his keyblade. The man looked down at him more and narrowed his eyes.
Whoosh!! Something whizzed passed Sora's cheek, grazing it. He didn't even have a chance to feel the blood run down his cheek when the man's face appeared merely inches from Sora's own.
"Don't ever call me that again, you pathetic excuse for a keyblader..." The man practically hissed out. He reached up and grabbed Sora's chin, turning his head this way and that, as if he was examining him. When he turned his head left Sora got a good look of the weapon that graced his cheek.
"That... keyblade..." He whispered as the man pulled away as some more heartless came.
"Handle them yourself." The man snapped as he turned away.
"Wait!! YOU have a keyblade!! Help me!!" He stopped and looked at Sora over his shoulder. "Please!!"
"Try not to let yourself get turned into a heartless, boy." The man was quick and back in his spot above the maw. He gave Sora a quick look the disappeared in a burst of white light and a whirl wind of sand.
Sora knew that this time... They might be over their heads.
